My name is Nicki Clyne.

I have had the good fortune of learning a lot of things the hard way. My hope is that the wisdom I’ve gained through my experiences can prevent others from going through the same or, in the very least, not go through them alone. I care about free speech, criminal justice, prison reform, and how we treat one another, especially during difficult times.

Criminal Justice & Prison Reform

I believe we have an epidemic of incarceration in this country. Too many people are punished and penalized not because they are menaces to society, but because they live desperate lives, can’t afford to defend themselves, are tried in the court of public opinion, or are railroaded by a process that prioritizes winning over justice. Reform will not come from changing laws, but from changing minds.

While I don’t know how to solve all the issues and injustices I see, I am convinced that we can do better and I am determined to help. First, we must realize that it affects all of us. As MLK said: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” Most people don’t realize how bad it is until it happens to them, and by then it’s often too late.

I have received criticism because I am unwilling to blindly accept the voice of the majority or subvert justice out of convenience, safety, or reputational preservation. I refuse to deny what’s true because it’s uncomfortable or unpopular. I am moved to action by injustices I’ve seen, with the knowledge that there are many more that go unseen. I seek to improve the lives of others and, wherever possible, shine a light on society’s darkest corners.

As an actor,

I played Crewman Specialist Cally in the 2003 reboot of Battlestar Galactica. I have guest starred on numerous television shows, co-starred with Tracy Morgan, Chris Kattan and Mikey Day in Neal Brennan’s VH1 comedy, Totally Awesome, starred in a scifi web-series with the late Richard Hatch, and hosted two seasons of a show for the SyFy channel. Most recently, I was in the independent film Lunamancer, which premiered at the Philip K. Dick Science Fiction Film Festival (2021) and won best feature.

After taking a break from acting to pursue other endeavors, I am back at it and represented by Patrick Havern at Established Artists. For autographed photos and custom merch, click here.
