Some error erased my previous attempt to comment, seems clear some force in the universe deemed you unready for whatever it was I said. So I'll say something else:

www.nanowrimo.org

It's for you, check it out.

How to Train Your Dragon, splendid, does everything right
Honorable Mentions: Kick Ass and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

A Long Way Gone was a great book

No bathtub, so no bathtub thoughts, but one just occurred to me. Sky blue print on a brown background is unique choice, I wonder what that says about you?

If everyone on the internet reads this: "what started as an innocent attempt to feel i had something important to say, has lead to a deeper questioning of what i actually want to say and why" we would be in a better world.
It's getting more and more difficult to dig meaningful things around the net.
I suffer the same problem as you when thinking about blogging. At first one wants to blog for blogging, not because one has something important to say, but to blog. I realized that this was killing the knowledge we can provide to others, lots of posts with no sense.
You should keep blogging things that you believe are important (at least for you) and always there will be someone out there that will share your thoughts and opinions or just enjoy reading meaningful posts.

be assured that the threaputic effects of releasing one's inner thoughts are positively cumulitive. the more of yourself you open up (whether in public forum or private), the further along you lead yourself down the path of self discovery. It is along this path that you will find your muse and the inspiration you need to attain what you dream.

I hope to read more of your blog, I stumbled upon your site while researching BSG. Oddly enough, I happened to know you many many years ago. I hope you find what you're looking for.

Nicki,

I have perused your writings on occasion, and I have found them all to be thoughtful and well written. I can tell from your writing that you are also well read, and I believe you have an enlightened touch which in and of itself is why I enjoy reading your blog.

Everyone who writes, or paints, sculps, plays a musical instrument, or anything creative, falls into a funk. Think of it as a plateau before the next rise.

Years ago, a dear friend of mine gave me a wonderful book called "The Search for Meaning, Americans Talk About What They Believe and Why," by Philip Berman. The common theme I found is that we all are searching for relevance, inspiration, and purpose. Hey, wasn't that part of the theme behind BSG?

Keep writing for the fun of it. Make it a staycation if you like. Let the whispers of your mind guide you to explore whatever your fancy is, and let the words float. I promise you that you will touch someone. You may not know it, you may never know it or who you touched. But that is okay.

As for something fun, I haven't seen a good movie in awhile, but perhaps I will very soon. It seems like a lackluster season at the theatres. I did pick up Jackson Browne's latest album, which is mostly a greatest hits on acoustic guitar with the masterful David Lindley on slide guitar. The songs are as great as always. May I suggest "Your Bright Baby Blues" with some fine Sapnish guitar, and for a nice pick-me-up, "Tu Tranquillo." Sit back, have a nice glass of wine, and relax while listiening to one of the finest lyricists. I think you will walk away refreshed.

Best wishes,

Larry

Nicki your thinking to hard. ;-) Seriously, it's easy to get caught up in the "value" of your writings. Not every lesson or story needs to be an eureka moment. Sometimes your most lighthearted and whimsical writings are the most entertaining and enlightening. After all, I think we learn a lot about ourselves from the silliest moments we witness in our lives.

What were you thinking when you were brushing your teeth this morning? I am sure there was a story to be told. Seems silly yes? But no. The value of your words don't always come from long deep analytical thought as valued as those thoughts are. Express the silly along with the serious. Your friends will get it, your fans will get it, and so will others that are interested in hearing what you have to say.

And this is where I sit and ponder too. Reading this post sounds an awful lot like me on my own blog. There are times when I wonder why I update, if what I has to say makes any sense and if people are really interested or if they just humour me.

Having met you, Nicki, I can honestly say this, your view of the world is inspiring and you are already someone who creates self-reflective introspection in others, making them realise new things about themselves in the process. Normally that's an inspiration I find in those older than me, not those of around the same age (well you're a little younger but I don't want to feel old today, I do that enough).

You have a radiance that shines not only out of your person but your words, reaching others worldwide. Never ever give that up, it's a fresh perspective that makes us all smile and allows your fans to relate to you on a human level.

First, I recently saw "Dead Set", a British mini-series, I'd guess you'd call it, about zombies advancing on the set of Big Brother. Very entertaining. Second, I'm almost all the way through the first volume of "The New Space Opera", which has been uniformly excellent so far and which I'm trying to read as slowly as possible.

I like stories with space ships in them and wish people wrote more of them.
